For the first time ever for the World Championships, there will be two divisions of competition. One division for Legendary and Grandmaster ranked players called Legendary and one for all other ranks called Open. The 2025 World Championship is adding this new division to allow lower ranked players to start their competitive journey by getting to participate in their own scaled-down version of the World Championship with players of similar skill level.

The Legendary Division will operate the same as previous years of the World Championship by being a pathway to the World Championship Finals. Players in this division will still be able to compete at the highest level and fight their way towards competing in the Finals for their share of the $1,000,000 USD Prize pool.

The Open Division will operate similarly but will stop at Stage 3. During the Open Division Stage 3, players will be able compete for CP Prizes and FaceIt points. Additionally, the Open Division Stage 3 placements may be used for future Open level tournaments.
